SETTLING IN

Almost every member of The National is well into its respective conference schedule by this point in the season. The one exception is Colorado College which played last week’s lone non-conference series and has only played in two WCHA games to date. The Tigers earned back-to-back 4-1 wins at RPI. Rylan Schwartz scored three goals in the series. Also last week, Western Michigan took two home games from Northern Michigan, winning 4-2 and 3-2 in overtime. The Broncos are off to a 5-0-3 start. Minnesota Duluth took a pair of games from visiting Bemidji State. The Bulldogs won the first game, 6-2 and then let the goalies take over in a 1-0 win backstopped by Kenny Reiter’s 23 saves. Nebraska Omaha earned a road split at Wisconsin. The Mavericks won 5-4 on Friday thanks to Alex Hudson’s gamewinner with 20.8 seconds remaining. They lost the next night, 6-3. North Dakota and St. Cloud State split a pair of games in Grand Forks. In the opener, SCSU freshman Ryan Faragher made 44 saves in a 4-0 win. The Sioux responded the following night, getting a goal and an assist from Corban Knight in a 3-1 victory. Denver went to Michigan Tech, losing 7-2 on Friday before working out a 2-2 tie on Saturday. Miami had its hands full with visiting Lake Superior State. The Lakers earned a rare sweep in Oxford, Ohio, taking the first game in overtime, 3-2, before winning 5-3 in Saturday’s rematch.
